How To Exercise And Stay Healthy In Your Apartment

by SA Homes, Posted on 11/11/2016

If the only thing that’s stopping you from buying an apartment in Palakkad is because you’re worried about getting enough exercise, we’ve got you covered. Here are some effective exercises you can do even in a small apartment:

  • Jog and jump: you don’t need to invest in an expensive treadmill for this. Just put on your jogging shoes and jog in place – switch on the TV, or put on some music to make it interesting. Every 10 minutes, you can jump in place for a minute or two, to break the monotony.
  • Skip rope: Just make sure there is sufficient overhead space. Skipping rope is one of the best cardio workouts you can get; just make sure you wear the right shows to minimize risk of injury.
  • Stability ball crunches: This is an inflatable, light ball which is ideal for an apartment workout. Use this for working your abs. Sit on the ball and lean back till you’re almost lying down on it, and keep your hands on your thighs or across your chest; contract your abdominal muscles and lift your head and shoulders off the ball for a few seconds; repeat.
  • Lift weights: Again, there is no need to purchase any equipment; use stuff lying around in your Palakkad flat, like detergent boxes or liquid detergent bottles, or food cans! Exercise to music or while watching exercise videos.
  • Pushups: Not the easiest of exercises, these are also not liked by most! However, pushups are the best for cardio and gaining upper body strength.
  • Wall Sitting: Find a smooth, empty (without any art work on it) wall and stand with your back to it. Slowly slide into a sitting position, keeping your thighs parallel to the floor. It is tough but very effective, and you will see results pretty soon. Start with 3 repetitions in one minute, and gradually increase.
  • Planking: Similar to pushups, this exercise is performed by leaning on your forearms instead of your hands. Hold the position for a few seconds. Start small – maybe just 5 repetitions, and gradually work your way up.
  • Walking: Most apartment buildings have enough space in the premises for you to go for a morning or evening walk. Plug in your headphones and take a few rounds, increasing the number of times you go round the building with every passing day.
  • Climbing: Every apartment building in Palakkad is equipped with elevators; to keep fit, avoid using them, and walk or jog up the stairs instead! If you live on say the 10th floor, walk halfway up, and then take the lift.

When staying healthy and keeping fit become a way of life, you will find that there are plenty of ways to exercise even in the tiniest of apartments! SA Homes builds Palakkad’s finest apartments.
